Answer: In my experience, they are generally microwave safe for short periods of time. Over time, the rubber gasket comes out and it gets difficult to replace. The lids get warped as well. They still work well, but it’s harder to make sure the lid locks tightly. -

Answer: The lid is detachable. The hinges interlock and snap together. I remove the lids to make the containers fit easier when washing in the dishwasher. Easy to take off and snap back on. -
