This product is a sand casting kit that comes with petrobond sand, a mold flask, and other tools necessary for sand casting. The interior dimensions for the mold flask are 4 1/8" tall, 2 5/8" wide, and 2 1/4" deep. The petrobond sand in this kit is mesh 130 and is good for aluminum, brass, and all types of metal. It has an extra fine grit size and can be used to cast with molten aluminum. However, it cannot handle molten iron as the oil in the sand will ignite and cause the mold to erupt. One customer has made 33 casts with very little loss or damage to the sand. Another customer measured the petrobond mesh as .0049" and .10mm, indicating a 130 mesh. Overall, this product is well suited for sand casting with metal.
