The Rockville SPGN258 8-inch passive speakers require an amp for operation, and are not powered. They are practical, light, and sound great, with clear highs and mids. However, the lows may leave a lot to be desired. Quality control at the factory/warehouse is poor, with some speakers arriving defective or with packaging issues. Customer service needs improvement, but the value is good. The handles could be improved, and the high pass crossover in the 15s is functional, but barely. These speakers are great for small and large venues, and church fellowship halls. They are also ideal for drum and band practice sessions, taking about 400 watts clean. However, it is important to note that these speakers do not come with 1/4 inch connections, and a pre-amp is required for use.
