Front Runner Spare Wheel Step

The Front Runner Spare Wheel Step has garnered mixed reviews from customers, highlighting both its practical utility and its limitations. On one hand, many users appreciate its design, citing that it effectively provides a means to access the roof of taller vehicles without necessitating a permanent installation that requires drilling or bumper removal. The user-friendly setup was noted, particularly the easily removable strap mechanism, which gains favor among those who do not wish to modify their vehicle permanently. Positive testimonials emphasize the step's sturdiness, with users asserting that it holds their weight well—up to 210 pounds—when the strap is correctly tightened around the tire. People have found it advantageous for vehicles like the Defender, where reaching higher roof racks pose a challenge, as it does not obstruct vision or create excessive wind noise. Conversely, there are significant criticisms about the product's usability. A handful of users reported issues regarding the height positioning of the step, deeming it impractical for actual use. There are mentions of the steps sliding during use, largely attributed to insufficient grip on the tire, even when the strap is secured as instructed. This raises concerns about the product's effectiveness, particularly for those utilizing standard street tires instead of off-road varieties. Ultimately, while the Front Runner Spare Wheel Step has clear appeal for certain vehicle owners seeking a removable solution to access roof racks, its performance may not meet all users' needs, especially where weight displacement and tire compatibility come into play. **
