It can be used with a walking foot and uses plastic bobbins. There is a Singer 5532 model with more stitches and Singer 4452 model with bonus heavy duty accessories available. The machine is suitable for denim, but not for leather thicker than average. It can be used with a lift cabinet. The machine is sturdy, heavy and dependable, with a moderate speed that is suitable for teaching. It is a good basic machine for occasional sewing and light daily sewing. Some reviews found it easy to use and set up, but some had issues with stitching, with one in particular being too loud and not working after purchase.
