Logitech Playstation 3 ChillStream Controller

The Logitech Playstation 3 ChillStream Controller has garnered a mixed reception from customers, reflecting both its innovative features and notable drawbacks. Primarily, it draws attention for its built-in cooling fan, aimed at players who engage in long gaming sessions and are prone to sweaty palms. While the fan does function effectively at its higher setting, users have noted its noise level is unnecessarily loud, even on the low setting, and it doesn't produce as much airflow as might be expected. A significant criticism of the ChillStream is the absence of a Home button, a critical feature for navigating the PS3's XMB (Cross-Menu Bar). This omission ends up frustrating users who rely on easily accessing the menu for tasks such as controlling music or managing in-game assets. The controller's design has also faced scrutiny; the shoulder buttons are described as feeling more like buttons than the responsive triggers found on typical controllers, and the overall fit is labeled as cramped, particularly for users with larger hands. On a positive note, many have praised the ChillStream's analog sticks, noting their comfortable clickiness and acceptable sensitivity. It is also commended for being plug-and-play-compatible with Windows 7 PCs, making it a versatile choice beyond the gaming Console. However, while some users feel that the controller's price (often around $4) is justified, others are hesitant to recommend it at a full retail price, particularly given the functionality and comfort issues. In summary, the Logitech PS3 ChillStream Controller showcases an interesting idea with the cooling feature and solid analog controls, but its lack of crucial navigation buttons and subpar build quality limit its overall effectiveness in the competitive gaming peripheral market. **
