Broan-NuTone Range Hoods 273003 Editorial Review
The Broan 273603 Eclipse Downdraft Model Ventilator is a stand-alone unit that can work with any brand of cooktop. Its blower is inside the unit and is vented outside. It works quietly on low settings but gets louder as the fan is turned up. Installation on an island range setup can be done, but it comes with caveats. The blower is 30 inches long, which is longer than a standard range. It would go beyond the range top by 9 inches, thus requiring the island to be at least 34 inches deep. Also, two of the burners may be quite far from the blower which could hinder movement during cooking. The blower may really make cooking a hassle. Additionally, it is not available in 220VAC, just 120V. One drawback of this product is that it does not come with a black cover. One reviewer, however, highly recommends buying a black cover if the countertop is black or very dark. It should also be noted that this product does not work without an outside connection. Overall, the Broan 273603 Eclipse Downdraft Model Ventilator is an awesome purchase because it worked great, was reasonably priced, and did the job that the customer needed to be done.
