Although it is technically a 2 player game, the second player is very limited and essentially acts as support for the first player. The game can be enjoyed by children as young as five years old. It does not have a split screen mode and requires the use of a nunchuck for player one. The game can be played on both the Wii and Wii U consoles. It is not necessary to play the first Mario Galaxy game in order to understand and enjoy this one.
