Answer: Definitely not. This is a vegan diet for tortoises. You need an aquatic turtle diet. Usually comes in pellet forms. But supplementing pellets w greens in the water (lettuces or aquatic plants) is great. (I’m a vet btw) -

Answer: Recommended for all tortoises and also for Uromastyx, Chuckwallas, Desert Iguanas, Spiny-Tailed Iguanas (Ctenosaura), Rock Iguanas (Cyclura) and more. Green iguana should be OK. -

Are these pieces small enough for a baby desert tortoise to eat? Or at least soft enough for me to break them up?
Answer: If you moisten the food with warm water and let soak the babies should have no problem. The cactus they love, but for tiny mouths you may want to cut to a smaller size before feeding. There is a Rep-Cal SRP00806 Tortoise Food, 12.5-Ounce that our tortoises also love and it may be small enough for little mouths once you soak them a little. Most of the San Francisco Bay Brand is fairly small, but after soaking again you may want to just chop or cut some pieces smaller.
